Mini Vacation

Last weekend we had a little overnight getaway which turned out to be very fun :) We drove to Kitchener on Sunday and went to the Waterloo Regional Children's Museum. The kids had a blast there. Some of the stuff was a little too old for Gabriella to understand or really enjoy but overall it was a great time.
We then headed to our hotel to relax and eat (the food kind of sucked but what can you expect with a hotel restaurant). After dinner we did some swimming and met up with some friends who live up there (Hi Audra and Jay...it was great seeing you!)

On Monday we went to the African lion safari. I haven't been since I was a kid (probably close to Gabriella's age) That place is GREAT!! We took the bus through to see the animals since we couldn't take our van through due to a crack in our windshield (which was okay anyways since the baboons can get a little crazy and "steal" parts of your car) We saw so many animals and they were so up close it was pretty amazing. And oh my was it the year of new little babies! It seemed that every type of animal had a new little to join them this year.

After the bus ride we went for a walk to look around until it was time to see th
e elephant swim. They had 5 elephants which they led through the park to the big water hole and we watched them swim around.

After the elephant swim we went and had some lunch and then headed over to the train ride. There was also a boat ride we took around the "monkey island".

After all the rides and seeing all the animals we went to the splash pad. I think that was Bella's favourite part and Ian's most hated. Bella is quite the "fish" and would play in the water all day if we let her. Ian hates anything filled with water if it is bigger then a bath tub. So left Bella with daddy and I took Ian to the toddler play area where he fell in love with the ball pit. Overall we had a great time and will more then likely visit there again in future.

Big boy!

So it is official...Ian is walking. He has been now for about 2 weeks but he is getting better by the day. One of his favourite things to do is to chase and to be chased by Bella. Maybe one day I will be able to get some pictures of it happening.

The Great Outdoors!

So we decided to take advantage of our beautiful weather we are having and did a little bike riding. Now that Ian is mobile (YES he is walking!) it is so much easier to do stuff that involves cement....no more worries about him scraping up his knees.

And just a couple more....

Random pictures from last weekend :)

More weekend fun!

After Colasantis we had some dinner and then headed to the beach. It wasn't planned so we had no bathing suits or towels but we still had fun dipping our toes in the water.

Ian is not too impressed with large bodies of water right now so he wouldn't let me put him down. Unfortunately for us it seems that beaches and large pools are just not something Ian is comfortable with...hopefully one day he will like them.

Here is a couple pictures of our fun day :)

Weekend Fun!

So on Saturday we made some last minute plans to meet up Chris' parents and Aunt Wendy to go to Colasantis. Lately it seems we don't have a free weekend to just do anything so it was a nice change from our busy schedule. The kids had a blast petting the goats and feeding the deer. They even got to see a lemur up close and Bella got to pet him...Ian would have nothing to do with it.

It was Ian's first time to ride on the rides there. He had fun...not too sure at first what to do or how to take it all but in the end he had a good time. And of course Bella had a blast.

Those darn crickets!

Bella was outside playing on her swing set when she came in all pouting. When we asked her why she was coming in she said that she was done playing outside because she didn't want to listen to the 2 crickets "cricking" anymore. What a kid!

Everchanging

I was taking pictures of the kids yesterday and I asked Gabriella to look at me and this is what I got! I took those pictures all in a row in a matter of a couple of seconds apart. Notice the face changes...happy, angry and then happy again. If she can have this many mood swings so quickly already what are we in for when she is 16?!

The First Haircut

Here is Ian the morning of him getting his hair cut. Chris was in the bank so I took advantage of the kids being strapped into their carseats and took a couple of pictures.

And here he is after it is all cut off....
He looks like such a little man now! It is amazing how much a baby can change when you take away some hair.

Sibling Love

Recent picture of the kids...together!! from the morning of Ian's first birthday party (July 15)

Hello everyone :)

So I decided to start "blogging" in hopes of keeping everyone (friends and family) up to date with what is going on with us. The kids are growing so quickly and so much can happen in a day I feel lost when it comes to what I should share with all of you so I figured instead of sending multiple email updates (which I haven't done in a long time) I would just do it all here and then you all can just check back whenever to see what is happening. So here you go...Enjoy!

Love,
Melissa, Chris, Gabriella & Ian
